Coming from a place of healing and reconciliation, it is hard to put into words the gratitude that my husband and I feel towards Mark at Hope for Life and his biblical counsel in our marriage.
After experiencing infidelity and brokenness, we didn’t know where to turn. By the grace of God, a friend shared Mark’s contact information with us and we started in counsel individually and as a couple.
Mark spoke the truth and guided us to rely on Jesus and His Word, when we needed it the most. We were both wanting to restore our marriage, but didn’t know exactly how to do that. We knew there was hope because of the hope that we have in Christ, even though the road felt long.
The resources that were given to us as we did the healing work were focused on turning to Jesus for our identity, purpose, security, hope and love. My husband would say that he was searching for all of those things outside of Christ, until his sin was brought to light. Confession and true repentance on his end was there and we were able to take steps forward to heal our relationship.
My sin and reliance on my husband for security and fulfillment was also exposed, as the Lord worked on my heart.
There were many difficult days – and days that felt like we were taking steps back or that nothing was happening. But over time, we have seen the healing power of Jesus, through biblical reconciliation.
Not really knowing what those steps were and how they are backed up by Scripture; that is where Mark’s guidance was so helpful. We were able to take the steps to work through this process and I was able to understand for the first time in my life what true forgiveness looks like. It is only through understanding the depths of my forgiveness that I was able to extend forgiveness to my husband.
Mark’s book, Re-Minded, was also crucial in our healing and deepening our relationship with Christ. It recalls Scripture and how to transform our minds by filling it with the Word of God. The verse that it is centered around, Lamentations 3:21, “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope,” was essential for my mental healing and filling my mind with Scripture during those early days and now.
We are so grateful for the tools Mark gave us, that are now an integral part of our marriage as we continue on our journey of healing and restoration.
What a testimony to the power of God’s grace and truth to transform not only individual hearts, but marriages and families for generations to come. This story is just one among many that we have been blessed to be a part of. Thank you, Lord!
