Nightmare To Hope

One woman’s story of God’s faithfulness in her life, and how His Word brought true and lasting healing to a grievous situation.

From Nightmare To Hope …

It was September of 2010. I had just experienced the worst nightmare a person could have. My husband of 24 years had told me he didn’t want to be married to me anymore.

I can’t begin to explain how deeply I was hurt by this revelation. After talking with my pastor, he referred me to Mark Baker, as he trusted his counsel and knew I would only hear God’s truth for my life. I remember the first meeting with Mark: he had eyes filled with compassion and spoke to me as if he knew exactly how I felt.

I continued to see Mark every other week for over a year, and there are no words to express how much the ministry of Hope For Life has helped me. God used Mark to speak to me many times. When I would leave his office, I felt I had the tools to make it through another two weeks – tools from the Word of God. I learned more than ever how it is through God’s Word that we are able to answer all of the challenges this life has to offer.

One of the things I will always remember talking about is our needs and how people get so confused about what our true needs are in this life. I know in my heart my true needs are met by God alone, and my hope always needs to be in Him, as He will never let me down.

I honestly don’t know what I would have done if it had not been for the ministry of Hope for Life. During that time, I was in deep agony and at a very vulnerable place emotionally. It is at those times of crisis many people seek counseling, and sadly, they can be led astray. There are counselors who claim to be Christians, yet at times they lead people down some very slippery slopes. I feel I could have easily been one of those led astray.

I truly thank the Lord for His provision in Mark’s counsel and for His protection against any lies I may have believed during those dark days. It has been almost 2 years and I feel like a new person spiritually speaking. I have grown in the Lord, and I am able to thank Him for all that has happened.

Mark and I spent many hours talking of how important forgiveness is and how bitterness and resentment can and does destroy people. I believe God showed His mercy to me by leading me to Hope for Life, and I can say I now have more hope then I ever knew I could possess.

Because God used Mark in my life, I have been able to recommend him to friends and family, all of whom have benefited just as I have. God is using this ministry for our good and His glory.
