Our Statement Of Faith
We believe the Bible—both the Old and New Testaments—to be the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, written without error in the original manuscripts. God’s “Word of life” [1 Jn 1:1] is the totally sufficient, supreme and final authority in matters of faith and life. God’s “word of truth” [2 Tim 2:15] is the standard by which we measure truth and living right before God and man. [2 Pet 1:3-11; 2 Tim 3:15-4:5; Jn 6:63; 17:17; Deut 8:3; 32:47; Ps 19:7-11; 119]
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and that He created everything out of nothing for His own pleasure and purpose. Each of these Persons possesses equally all the attributes of Deity. [Jn 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor 13:14; Eph 4:30; Col 1:18-19; 2:9-10]
We believe that man was created in the image of God and that man sinned by disobeying God (by doubting and rebelling against His Word, His character, and His sufficiency). As a result, we have incurred both physical and spiritual death and are alienated from our Father and Creator. Therefore, we are in dire need of regeneration by the Holy Spirit through the forgiveness of our sins. In addition, due to the nature of the fall, our corrupted hearts struggle mightily to believe in and obey God’s Word, character and sufficiency for salvation and day-to-day life. [Gen 1:26-27; 3; Jer 2:13; Jn 3:3-21; Rom 1:16-18; 3:21-24; 5:15-21; 6:23; Eph 2:1-10; Ti 3:3-7; 2 Pet 1:3-4; 2 Cor 9:8]
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became fully man without ceasing to be fully God. He was begotten of the Father through the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and atoned for our sins by dying on the cross in our place. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended in the same body into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God where He intercedes as permanent High Priest and Mediator on behalf of all who believe in Him. [Matt 1:20-23; Jn 1:1, 14; Rom 6:1-10; 1 Cor 15; Col 3:1-4; Heb 4:14-16; 7:23-26; 8:6; 9:11-15; 1 Jn 2:1-2]
We believe that the Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Jesus and the Father and to apply the saving work of Christ to mankind. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ. From the moment of spiritual birth, the Holy Spirit imparts new life to them and seals them until the day of redemption. He is the source and power for all acceptable worship and imparts a diversity of enabling gifts for service. The Holy Spirit enlightens us to understand the infallible Word of God and empowers us for fulfilling His will. [Jn 14:16-17; 16:13-15; 1 Cor 12:4-13; 2 Cor 1:21-22; Eph 1:13-21; Ti 3:4-6]
We believe that those who, by faith alone and through no merit of their own, receive Jesus Christ as Savior are miraculously born again of the Holy Spirit and become, as children of God, partakers of His divine nature and of eternal life. [Jn 1:12; 3:16; Rom 6:23; Eph 2:8-10; Col 2:6; 2 Pet 1:3-4]
We believe that all believers are commanded by God to proclaim the gospel throughout the world and “to make disciples of all nations” [Matt 28:19-20; Mk 16:15; Lk 24:47-48], “while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” [Titus 2:13, 1 Thess 4:13-18]
